Overview and breakthrough!

January 11, 2019

We often hear about ‘balance’, and ‘moderation’. It’s a good call. ‘A little of what you fancy’ really does do you good (because if we didn’t factor in some good times, we’d never stick to ‘the cause’, and life would be dull, dull, dull!). But where to draw the line? With my PT clients – as I get to know them and we monitor their habits (be this what they eat and drink, how well they sleep, or how often they exercise), there is often a vague notion of what needs to be done, but no real inquiry made of their lives. I know this is tricky at the best of times. Life is fast paced. Demands are made. Deadlines need to be met (I’m trying for that now!) .. and quick choices to be made. BUT without looking over what you’re doing and determining where you’re heading, you may find it’s suddenly all out of control. I don’t just mean gaining ‘body fat’ (to be honest, I’m not so interested in that as a stand-alone issue now, because I recognise that is only a very small part of the larger picture). I mean that you’re TOO stressed, tired, malnourished, ill.. And finding it hard to claw back (this may well manifest in the feeling bloated and overweight scenario). Without the ‘mindfulness’ of where you’re heading and taking enough time over the many daily decisions impacting your health, you might find the slippery slope getting steeper.  Many Novembers ago, I dedicated a large space on a wall in the Gym to client’s A4 posters. The idea was that they would held to account all over stodgy xmas and in to January! They posted: their picture, Body Composition Analysis results, and what they were trying to achieve, then the whole thing again in January, to mark results. I had 25 uptakes (it was free!). The most surprising thing? The ladies who did this, almost without exception didn’t need to! I learnt from this. They were ALREADY ‘overviewing’, already taking responsibility by the act of DOING it (and presumably already in good shape/health as this was their mind-set already). So slow down. Breathe. Determine where you want to be. Ask for my info sheet ‘Overview’), full of tips to help you
