COMFORTABLE PACE TEST
New to exercise and want recognise your 'levels'. This programme will get you into your zones easily, safely and progressively. We will set it up at a pace pertinent to your fitness level, wearing a heart rate monitor to give us further information. This assessment will lead to a 'prescription' to follow each session and a better understanding of different fitness levels. You can do this on any machine to gain an undestanding of interval training and the benefits it offers.
It is best to do this soon after joining the gym. It takes 30 minutes or so (including discussion and analysis)

ANAEROBIC THRESHOLD
Usually done on the treadmill, this is for those who are a little more conditioned than entry level ie. who can jog, say for 15 minutes or more and who wish to improve their endurance and stamina over time, in a closely monitored, scientific environment. A brilliant test that will give you a far better understanding of where your fitness levels lie, and how to improve these. Most clients, in our experience, UNDERestimate what they are capable of. A comprehensive and thorough assessment, which should be done as soon as you can jog, as this will act as a Super-Booster. You will become self motivated by your ensuing results, with a precise prescription to follow, designed by Cat.
This assessment takes 40 minutes, including discussion and results.

STEP RECOVERY
An interesting test which gives you a very good idea (comparable) of your cardio vascular fitness at any given time. Can be repeated to monitor progression.

TRANSVERSE ABDOMINALS USING A BIO PRESSURE FEEDBACK MONITOR
'Core stability' has been the fitness buzzword for a few years now, particularly in Pilates and Yoga and we teach it as an intergral part of the gym programme, usually on your first day, but are you truly using your Transverse Abdominals in isolation, and if you are, how strongly? Find out more in this 1-2-1 session with Cat, taking 20 minutes or so (discussion and exercise included). Invaluable - if you can use your core in the gym (against resistance) you need never do another sit up,
AND you'll strengthen your pelvic floor. It's also protective, or antidotal to damage, whereas you can de-train abdominals, amd weaken the pelvic floor wih poor technique (particularly against resistance). In real life too! £5.00
BODY COMPOSITION ANALYSIS (B.C.A) - Hugely valuable. Much more than weight alone. 100's done!
It is well worth having your B.C.A measurements taken at the gym, and every 2 months or so, to establish the following:
Your Weight , in kg & 1lbs – absolute accuracy. You'll know what you should be too.
Your Whole Body fat, using Bio-electrical impedance, as a percentage. Are you in the correct zone?
Your Body mass index (B.M.I) – What your doctor uses as a gauge - are you over/underweight
Your Hydration levels are you drinking enough? How do other factors affect this? You'll be amazed.
Visceral fat - very important as it measures Torso (heart, vital organs) fat. You might have high whole body fat, but low visceral or visa-versa. Definitive results which you need to know.
Muscle mass What your muscles actually weigh. Arnie would be described as 'clinically obese', according to his actaul weight on the scales, but it was due to muscle! Are you getting the picture!?
Physique Rating . Are you “standard”(medium muscle, healthy fat levels),”Hidden” obese (low muscle, high fat – not heavy) 9 different category boxes. Fascinating stuff.
Bone mass - What your bones actually weigh, you'd be surprised! Are you in range? Had two surprises to date...
Basal metabolic rate As an academic exercise, how many kcal do you need a day just to exist (blink, digest, metabolic function) Daily kcal required for your sports and daily expenditure are calculated and added in by Cat. NOTE: The last thing we want you to do is count calories (yawn), but this can be very telling, academically. How many ladies, for example, do not eat enough, mistakenly thinking they will lose weight. NO!! - the 'thrifty genotype' will kick in. Let Cat explain this to you too!
If you want to lose weight safely, this is now determined as a total kcal figure, including all the above. It is often discovered that a client isn't eating enough! Once addressed, weight is then LOST , sensibly.
Basal Age - Is this the same as your actual age. Can we get it lower (you bet!) If higher than actual you'll get the 16 top tips to lower it, and re-test to prove they work.(if you follow Cat's advise!)
